weblogs

A blog, short for web log, is an automatic chronological record of events. Originally the term referred to events on a server, but when in came into general use around 2002  blog meant the way more and more people were placing their thoughts, comments, and personal and professional opinions on web pages organized in a spare, chronological fashion. This “less is more” look became the hallmark of the cultural phenomenon that took off in 2005-2006 referred to as ‘Web 2.0’ - a term coined by  O'Reilly Media.

As they've evolved, blogs have come to incorporate philosophical or intellectual reflections by the author, as well as opinions and information that work together to make a single point (about law, politics, the Internet, etc.).Because they are so basic in appearance, blogs are often windows into the personality of their authors.

The practice of maintaining and updating a blog (often every day) is known as blogging and someone who keeps a blog is a blogger. Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain them, such as

Wordpress
Blogger
Typepad
