Romeoville is a southwest suburb of Chicago, and a village in Will County. It has a population of nealry 40,000 and is easy to reach from Chicago via the Stevensen Expressway (I55) and recently-completed extension to I-355. The Santa Fe Railway formerly operated a Romeoville Station but has suspended service. Romeoville consists of 14.9 sq. miles.
There are over 7,000 households and 6,000 families in Romeoville. The population density is over 1,500 people/sq.m. With more than 8,000 housing units in the village, the housing density is about 600 units/sq.m. The racial makeup of Romeoville is approximately 73% White, 7% African American, 15% Hispanic and 5% from other races.
About 45% of households have children under the age of 18 living at home, 75% of all households consist of 2-parent families, 15% represent single-mothers, and 25% are non-families living in the same house. Many households include one or more members over age 55. The average household size is 4 people, and average family size is the same.
The population of Romeoville is spread out from an age persepective; with 30% being under age 18, 10% between age 18 and 24, 40% between age 25 and 44, 15% from 45 to 64, and the balance 65 years or older. The median age in the village is 30. The ratio of men to women is roughly equal, with women 18+ being slightly more numerous than men.
The median household income in Romeoveille is approximately $60,738. Median family income is about $63,320. The median for male-led households is about $41,267 per year, while female-led households earn approximately $29,724 per year. Per capita income for the village is roughly $20,000, with about 2% of residents living below the poverty line, with more people proportionally between the ages of 18 and 30, then over 65.

In response to the nationwide foreclosure crisis, the Village of Romeoville took pro-active steps to assist homeowners. In 2010 for instance, residents attended outreach events and participated in workshops and counseling sessions with them in mind. For those who were unable to attend the event the Village provided contact information for advisors and resources presented there.
